Under 12 –  Boys & Girls

2019/2020

Program Summary

Under 12’s is a mixed competition of boys and girls. At this age level there is more focus on throwing, catching, hitting and learning how to pitch and catch as well as gaining a basic understanding of the game and its rules. Also learning about being a good sports person and handling winning and losing and having fun are emphasised.  Under 12 players are also eligible to play in the Bundaberg 10-12 years School Representative Teams and then go onto be part of the Widebay 10-12 years School Teams. There is also opportunity to be part of Under 14 Association Representative teams to play at State Championships. Age group is 8 years to 11 years Boys and Girls.

Practice Schedule

Tuesday afternoon from 4:00pm

Training commences in August at either Faircloth Cres, Kensington (The ovals behind the Brothers Club) or Jack Norgate Oval Burnet Heads (Behind the Progress Association).

What you need for training:

Remember to bring your hat, softball uniform, water bottle, enclosed sneakers and softball equipment. If you don’t have any softball equipment like a glove helmet or bat the club does have gear you can borrow.

Wet Weather Policy

The following process will take place:

  1. If it looks like rain/storm or there already has been rain, executive members will meet to inspect the grounds
  2. A decision will be made the night before or morning of competition.
  3. All team contacts will be sent an email or SMS and a message will be posted on this site as soon as possible
  4. All lost games will be abandoned. They will not be replayed. Unless wash out days have been allocated in the game roster.

The Bears

Head Coach: Di Philips

Di is a level 4 Accredited Queensland coach and selector. Di has coached for 30+ years including boys and girls through primary school, high school, and club rep teams, school rep teams all the way to Queensland level. Di has played the game also for many years. Some of her achievements are she has coached current and ex Queensland and Olympic softball players in Australia and won National and State Championships.

Scoring

If you are interested in becoming a scorer for Bargara Softball Club. We run a short, one day course at the start of most seasons. This is a great way to get involved with the Club and be a part of team even if you are not interested in playing.

Coaching

For coaches wanting to extend their softball knowledge to include basic skills and how to play the game, there is also the formal coaching pathway of coach education and accreditation through Softball Australia's Coaching Program.

Coaching Skills Clinic

Holiday clinics are a great way to introduce your child to the game of Softball in a fun, relaxed environment where they can learn new skills and make friends. Find out when the next holiday clinic is…we usually run them in the September school holidays only.
