Ladies B Grade

2019/2020

Program Summary

You’re never too old to play softball! Just ask the thousands of participants who take part around the world. Softball is a great game,  perfect for beginners and experienced players. There’s no pressure – the emphasis is all about fun. The senior competition gives experienced juniors a pathway to gain more experience in their own game. The game is played by female teams and has plenty of action to keep everyone involved and active. We use a 12-inch ball thrown underarm from a distance of 43 feet. Despite the name there is nothing soft about a softball.

Practice Schedule

Training commences in August at either Faircloth Cres, Kensington (The ovals behind the Brothers Club) or Jack Norgate Oval Burnet Heads (Behind the Progress Association).

The Bandits

Head Coach: Karen O'Neall

Karen has been playing softball since primary school and coaching off and on since High School. She is a current Level 1 and working on her Level 2 and is also a Level 1 Scorer. She started coaching in Ipswich because no one knew the game well enough and she had played for a few years already. Karen coached and played there for a few years before moving away. She started coaching again because there weren’t enough coach volunteers to coach her children how to play the game of softball. Karen has also helped coach representative teams of different ages as well as her children’s teams as they have come through. She enjoys coaching children and likes watching them develop into players of the game and helping them to love the game as much as she does.

The Leopards

Head Coach: Mitchel Pohlmann

Mitchel plays and coaches the game of softball. Mitchel has been playing softball since he was in T Ball. Now that he is married and has his own family he has introduced his wife to the game. Mitch was asked around 5 years ago to help out with coaching, for the team his mothers and sisters played in. He helped out so well that he continues to coach the same team today: the Bargara B grade Leopards. He also plays in the Bargara Bulls B Men’s team.

Masters Ladies Teams

For those of us a little longer in the tooth and enjoy the game we have a master’s competition in Australia. Masters competitions and events are for participants 35 years of age and older. There are many national and international master’s events, all of which offer physical activity in a social environment and festive atmosphere. Softball is one of the highest participant sports in Master’s games.
